The STREET FIGHTER LEAGUE: Pro-US 2019 team competition continued this week with battles pitting Team STORM against Team GALE, INFERNO against PSYCHO and SPIRIT against FROST. A rivalry between two teams was ignited and all three thrilling team battles featured one player bringing their team back from the edge of defeat! Here’s a recap of the incredible action from this week’s episode!

TEAM STORM DEFEATS TEAM GALE 3-2
Character Bans: Laura and R.Mika
NuckleDu’s Team GALE started off strong with victories in the first two rounds of their team battle against iDOM’s Team STORM. GALE’s Shine came out on top over STORM’s Clasico in round one 2-1 followed by GALE’s RobTV getting the win over iDom in round two. Just like last week it came down to Samurai and his Akuma to bring Team STORM back from the brink and he did just that. He would eliminate all members of Team GALE in turn with 2-0 scores to once again turn near-defeat into victory. This was yet another stunning performance by Samurai that certainly makes a statement to future competitors. Will Team SPIRIT try to character ban Akuma in an attempt to counter Samurai when they face each other next week? Samurai said in a post-match interview with Rip that he’s ready for that as well. TEAM INFERNO DEFEATS TEAM PSYCHO 3-2
Character Bans: M.Bison and Rashid
A team rivalry between Punk’s Team INFERNO and Toi’s Team PSYCHO seems to have ignited this week. There was plenty of friendly smack talk from both sides throughout this incredibly close team battle. PSYCHO’s El Chakotay got the win over INFERNO’s BrolyLegs in round one and Toi eliminated JB in round two, leaving Punk to once again facing the opposing team alone. Punk eliminated PSYCHO’s JustAKid and El Chakotay with relative ease with 2-0 wins leaving just the two team captains to decide it all. PSYCHO’s Toi, using Birdie, would get to within one round of victory early but Punk’s confidence seemed unshakable. Ultimately it would come down to the very last round of the last match and Punk came out on top to give Team INFERNO another win.

TEAM FROST DEFEATS TEAM SPIRIT 3-2
Character Bans: Balrog and Rashid
The character ban strategies continue to evolve as the competition continues as both Team FROST and Team SPIRIT attempt to hobble character specialists instead of going after the team captains. Dual Kevin’s Rashid and Brian_F’s Balrog were both banned this week, forcing them to use secondary characters. The strategy worked for both teams as SPIRIT’s Justin Wong defeated FROST’s Dual Kevin, using G, 2-0 in round one and FROST’s Nephew eliminated SPIRIT’s Brian_F, using Abigail, in round two. SPIRIT’s Psycho got the win in a Necalli mirror match against FROST’s UpToSnuff in round three leaving Nephew facing the two remaining players from Team SPIRIT. Nephew would show why he is so dangerous with Kolin as he went on to defeat Justin Wong and finally Psycho both with 2-0 scores.

TEAM STANDINGS
Team INFERNO extended its lead to 4-0 on the back of Punk’s incredible Karin. Teams STORM and FROST move into second and third place with their wins this week while GALE slips to fourth place, all with 2-2 scores. Teams SPIRIT and PSYCHO round out the rest of the standings with 1-3 scores. This is a double round robin format so each of these teams will face off once again before it’s all over.
