It’s day three of Street Fighter League EMEAA, and we are at the halfway point of season 5. Today will begin runbacks of team matches from day one only with home and away sides reversed. RED DUNES still tops the leaderboard followed by GTW, who moved up from third into second after two wins on day two. MVS and YESPORTS are in the middle positions at third and fourth place with MOUZ and FALCONS in the final two spots. Only the top four teams will advance to the Playoffs, where they will compete for part of the $100,000 prize pool and a spot at the World Championship.

MATCH 1: RED DUNES (HOME) vs YESPORTS (AWAY)

RED DUNES got a hard-fought 30-20 win over YESPORTS in the first team match of day two. Leading off was AngryBird’s Ryu against HotDog29’s Alex. AngryBird took the first game convincingly, after which HotDog29 gained momentum in the second and nearly closed game three with a double-perfect, completing the comeback 2-1. Keekuma’s Chun-Li earned a tough win over JuicyJoe’s JP 2-1 in the next match, giving YESPORTS a 20-0 lead. RED DUNES needed a win in the anchor position to stay alive and once again Big Bird delivered. Big Bird’s C.Viper and Chris Wong’s Luke had a scrappy set, at the end of which Big Bird prevailed 3-2. In the tiebreaker extra match Phenom’s Cammy efficiently beat Rainpro’s Guile 2-0 to give RED DUNES the victory.

MATCH 2: GTW (HOME) vs MOUZ (AWAY)

MOUZ pulled off a much-needed 30-10 victory against GTW. EndingWalker gave MOUZ a strong start with his Ryu, beating Bravery’s Cammy 2-0. GTW struck back in the next match, with Xian’s Kimberly getting a 2-0 win over DCQ’s M.Bison. Zhen’s M.Bison went head-to-head against Lexx’s Guile in the anchor position. In Lexx’s first time playing anchor, he came through for MOUZ with a 3-1 win. This is the second straight victory for MOUZ, who seems to be gaining momentum.

FALCONS entered this match with only one win on the season. Xiao Hai has been the main points scorer so far, but the rest of the team has not delivered enough consistent points to get team match victories. Their fortunes did not change in this team match, as away team MVS pulled off a 30-10 win over FALCONS. VXBao gave FALCONS the early lead with his first win of the season, using M.Bison to beat Mister Crimson’s C.Viper 2-1. MVS evened the score in the next set, as Kilzyou confidently beat Micky 2-0 in a Mai mirror match. Leshar completed the win for MVS from the anchor position after his Ed shut down Xiao Hai’s Mai, winning 3-0.

The second half of the season officially began with this team match between GTW and RED DUNES. RED DUNES got a 30-10 win in their first meeting on day one. In the rematch GTW got the victory 30-10 over RED DUNES. Phenom got a clean 2-0 win over Bravery in a Cammy mirror-match in the opening set to give RED DUNES 10 points. From here, GTW took control. It started with Hope’s A.K.I. getting another impressive win over AngryBird’s Ryu 2-0, which included a thrilling dual Supers to win the final game. Zhen’s M.Bison closed the team match from the anchor position, dominating Big Bird’s C.Viper 3-0.

MVS capped off a great day three with a 30-10 victory over MOUZ. MOUZ scored the first 10 points of the team match as Problem X won a thrilling, back-and-forth set with Alex against Leshar’s Akuma 2-1. MVS tied the score in the next match as NL’s Luke won 2-0 over EndingWalker’s Ryu. Kilzyou brought home the team match win for MVS from the anchor position. DCQ’s JP won the first game, but Kilzyou’s Mai took control from there and did not let go, winning 3-1.

YESPORTS and FALCONS came into this final team match of day three at the bottom of the leaderboard. YESPORTS got the 40-0 win they desperately needed against FALCONS. Rainpro’s Guile won the opening match against VXBao’s M.Bison 2-1 followed by Chris Wong’s Luke beating Micky’s Mai 2-0. In the anchor position, HotDog29’s Alex got a 3-0 win over Xiao Hai’s Mai to finish the team match. It was a disastrous result for FALCONS, who only won a single game over the whole team match.
