Season 8 of Street Fighter League: Pro-US is underway, taking place live for the first time. Seven teams are competing this season to get a peice of a prize pool totaling $100,000, with first place getting $60,000, second place getting $30,000 and third place taking away $10,000. In addition to the increased number of teams and the live format, another change is that tiebreaker matches are now best of three instead of a single game. On each of the four days of round one this season there will be five Team Battles, with each team striving for a chance at the top prize as well as a trip to the World Championships to face the best team from SFL Europe and SFL Japan.
The first round of the season will take place over four days starting on Thursday, November 13th and finishing on Sunday, November 16th. Be sure to cath all of the action live on Capcom Fighters on Twitch and Youtube.
MATCH 1: FLYQUEST (HOME) vs BANDITS (AWAY)

The opening match of the first day was between FLYQUEST and PUNK. They last faced off in the US Finals last season where FLYQUEST came away victorious. BANDITS was able to get some redemption here, winning 30-10. Riddles started off the set with his Terry against Caba’s Guile. Riddles is new to Street Fighter League and in his first match he decisively defeated Caba 2-0. FLYQUEST answered back in the second match with Booce and his Terry coming out on top over Psycho’s Kimberly 2-0. MenaRD and his Blanka was next in the away team player order and Punk stepped in with his Cammy. The momentum swung back and forth for the first few games with both players trading games. MenaRD won 3-1 to give BANDITS the victory in the first Team Battle.

MATCH 2: 2GAME (HOME) vs KUAISHOU GAMING (AWAY)

2GAME made a spectacular debut in their first match of season 8 with a 40-0 win over KUAISHOU GAMING. The most competitive match was the first one between Brayan Job and Micky. Brayan Job won the first game with his Dee Jay against Micky’s Cammy, after which the latter switched to Mai. Brayan Job chipped him out in the last round to win 2-1. VXBao with M.Bison was next in the away team order and Juninho-Ras took him on with Luke, winning 2-0. Blaz faced Xiao Hai in the anchor match. Xiao Hai won the first game with his Mai over Blaz’s Sagat. From the second game onward Blaz had the momentum, doing crushing damage with Sagat to win 3-1.

FALCONS scored a 30-10 win against SHOPIFY REBELLION. DCQ with M.Bison won the first match against Shine’s Kimberly. While the first two games were close, DCQ steamrolled in the last game with a double-perfect, finishing 2-1. NuckleDu’s Mai took on Xian’s Dee Jay next. Both games were competitive and NuckleDu won 2-0. In the anchor match NL’s Akuma won 3-1 against Dual Kevin’s Rashid. Dual Kevin won the first game, after which NL was able to clutch out wins in the next two games by slim margins and cruise to a win in the final game.

BANDITS was off to a strong start on the first day, following up their win over FLYQUEST with a 30-10 victory over RED ROOSTER. Booce led things off with a 2-0 win with his Terry against Crossover’s Mai. RED ROOSTER struck back in the next match as Chris Wong’s Luke won 2-0 over Chris T’s Ken. In the anchor match was MenaRD’s Blanka against Craime’s Luke. While Craime had some intermittent success during the match, it was a dominant 3-0 performance by MenaRD. In day one Booce and MenaRD were both locked in, with the former 4-0 and the latter 6-1 after two Team Battles.

The last match of day one between KUAISHOU GAMING and SHOPIFY REBELLION was an appropriate finale, going to the final game of a tiebreaker match to decide. KUAISHOU GAMING was off to a good start as Zhen’s M.Bison got a strong 2-0 win over Dual Kevin’s Rashid. This was followed by VXBao’s Mai beating Shine’s Kimberly 2-1 in an incredibly close set. Xiao Hai and NuckleDu faced off in a Mai mirror-match in the anchor position which was also a nailbiter, with NuckleDu winning 3-2 to force a tiebreaker match. In the tiebreaker Micky’s Cammy won the first game, but JAK’s Juri took control and won 2-1. SHOPIFY won the Team Battle 30-20.
