It’s time for another week of exciting high-level Street Fighter 6 Team Battle action with FLYQUEST taking on SHOPIFY REBELLION, BANDITS facing CLOUD9 and FIGHTING SPIRIT going head-to-head with RED ROOSTER.   FLYQUEST, SHOPIFY REBELLION and CLOUD9 all scored 30-10 wins last week, giving them the top spots in the standings.   Week two had the first 40-0 shutout as well as the first Team Battle to need a tiebreaker match.  After the last round was finished this week there was more separation in score between teams in the standings, and have an early look at which teams are rising and which need to regroup.

FLYQUEST (HOME) vs SHOPIFY REBELLION (AWAY)

Away Team Player and Character Order: 1) HotDog28 (M.Bison), 2) Sayff (Ken), 3) NuckleDu (Guile), SUB) Dual Kevin

SHOPIFY REBELLION started the season with a 30-10 win against BANDITS, with Dual Kevin’s Rashid getting the huge win against MenaRD’s Zangief.  This week they ran into an absolute roadblock in FLYQUEST, who scored the season’s first 40-0 in this Team Battle.  FLYQUEST, who won 30-0 against RED ROOSTER last week, is firing on all cylinders right now with all four players performing well.

HotDog29 with his M.Bison was chosen by SHOPIFY REBELLION to lead off the Team Battle and FLYQUEST sent Psycho and his Kimberly to face him.  Psycho, who was on SFL all the way back in season one, is red-hot so far in season seven.  Last week he won 2-0 and this week he got another 2-0 shutout to give his team an early lead.

Up next in SHOPIFY REBELLION’s away team play order was Sayff with his Ken and ChrisCCH, using Ed, was chosen to go in.  Sayff went on offense from the very first second and the match was back and forth, going to the very last round.  In that last round Sayff tried wakeup Super twice in a row with no success, resulting in devastating punishes and a win for ChrisCCH.

The anchor position was NuckleDu’s Guile versus Punk and his Cammy.  Punk won a one-sided first game, prompting NuckleDu to switch to Cammy.  Punk won the Cammy mirror-match, so NuckleDu decided to return to Guile.  Punk would win that game as well to finish with a clean 3-0 win, giving his team the first 40-0 score of the season.

BANDITS (HOME) vs CLOUD9 (AWAY)

Away Team Player and Character Order: 1) JB (Rashid), 2) Booce (Ken), 3) NoahTheProdigy (Luke), SUB) Lexx

BANDITS lost their first Team Battle against SHOPIFY REBELLION last week by a narrow margin, and this week they would earn a win against CLOUD9 with a tiebreaker.   This was a tough win for the team, but they would show their resilience.  One thing that is clear after this week is that BANDITS is no longer a one-man band, as Caba would step up in a big way and deliver for the team.

CLOUD9, the team with the most players new to SFL this season, continues to impress even with the loss this week.  They won their first Team Battle and had this one slip through their fingers, but they showed that they are a team that is a serious contender to win.

The Team Battle did not start well for BANDITS with Zhen’s M.Bison falling to JB’s Rashid 1-2 in the opening match.  It was an incredibly close set with Zhen having strong anti-airs early to limit JB’s movement.  Zhen would win the first game but JB would win the second to tie it up.  In the first round of game three Zhen would make a costly error, electing not to use Super at the end of a combo to finish off JB, leaving him with a sliver of health. JB would come back to win the round, and with that momentum would win the next round with a perfect.

In the next match MenaRD, using Blanka, stepped in to face Booce’s Ken.  This was a thrilling match that saw both players making incredible plays to win rounds.  Booce got a lot of input from his team between games, seemingly unfazed by the pressure of facing a two-time Capcom Cup Champion.  In the last game MenaRD would win the first round and have a huge life lead with his opponent having a sliver of health.  Booce would make an unbelievable comeback to win the round.  The very last round of the match would see both players on life support, but Booce would land a clutch Drive Impact to win 2-1.

With BANDITS behind by 20 points it was time for the anchor match and Caba would step in and single-handedly reverse his team’s fortunes.  Caba played patiently with his Guile against NoahTheProdigy’s aggressive play with Luke, who seemed unconcerned with putting himself into burnout on offense.  Caba would win 3-0 to force a tiebreaker match. The two hot players from both teams went in for the single game tiebreaker with Caba facing Booce.  The game was very competitive, but Caba would win to bring BANDITS back from the brink.

FIGHTING SPIRIT (HOME) vs RED ROOSTER (AWAY)

Away Team Player and Character Order: 1) Uriel Velorio (Ken), 2) Brutus (Zangief), 3) Ajax Fidelity (Ed), SUB) Mono

FIGHTING SPIRIT got an impressive win this week against RED ROOSTER, winning 30-10.  Both teams took losses in their first Team Battles in week one with RED ROOSTER losing in a nail-biting showdown between Brutus’ Zangief and Punk’s Cammy.  This week’s Team Battle started strong for RED ROOSTER but their fortunes turned in the second match and they could not recover.

The sole bright spot this week for RED ROOSTER was the opening match between Oil King’s Rashid and Uriel Velorio’s Ken.  This was a high tempo match with both players seeming to have a mentality that the best defense is a strong offense.  Uriel Velorio would win 2-1.

The last two matches of the Team Battle were one sided victories for FIGHTING SPIRIT, as they would win five games straight.  NL’s Akuma got the best of Brutus’ Zangief 2-0.  NL got Brutus off his game plan and managed to sustain it, giving Brutus very little opportunity to get offense going.

DCQ’s M.Bison would win 3-0 against Ajax Fidelity’s Ed in the anchor match.  DCQ used M.Bison’s offensive pressure to keep his opponent off balance.  Ajax Fidelity was able to get one or two surges of momentum, but DCQ managed to consistently take it back.  RED ROOSTER started off rough this season but it’s still very early, with lots of opportunities to turn things around.
