NASR X BANDITS and GL GAMING got their first wins of the season with narrow victories against ENDEMIC and PANDA GLOBAL last week with both being decided by a tie-breaker match. This week we got to see the final two new teams of the season in action as UYU faced off against RED ROOSTER. Following that up was ENDEMIC taking on NASR X BANDITS with only 5 points separating the two coming into this week.

UYU (HOME) vs RED ROOSTER (AWAY)

Away Team Player and Character Order: 1) Mono (F.A.N.G.), 2) Smug (Balrog), 3) Ajax Fidelity (Ed), SUB) DCQ

This Team Battle between UYU and RED ROOSTER started off with a nail-biter of a match between Xian’s Seth and Mono’s F.A.N.G.. The match started out in Mono’s favor with F.A.N.G.’s poison slowly draining Seth’s health while his normals and arching projectiles helped keep Seth at bay. After that first game Xian settled in and was able to more reliably get in close to inflict damage and keep F.A.N.G. bottled up in the corner. The match went the very last round with both players having very low health but Mono landed the final blow to get the win 2-1.

Up next was Oil King and his Rashid against Smug’s Balrog and it was another very close match that went to the very last round. Smug’s Balrog is always incredibly dangerous with the ability to do tremendous damage on a single combo and Oil King, as he often does, used Rashid’s mobility and highly effective normal and special moves to both keep pressure while not presenting an easy target. The match was back and forth but Oil King finished that last round strong with almost full health to even the score of the Team Battle.

The last match between NL and Ajax Fidelity was surprising not only for its outcome but also for how one-sided it was. NL is a veteran of the pro fighting game community with many big wins to his credit while Ajax Fidelity was a virtual unknown by comparison. Ajax Fidelity made a huge statement in his first match in Street Fighter League with a dominant 3-0 performance. NL went with the popular Luke instead of his usual Cammy and from the beginning he was has having trouble dealing with Ajax Fidelity’s Ed. Ed was able to keep Luke virtually locked down with relentless offense and corner guessing games. NL had a few flashes of resistance but Ajax Fidelity reacted swiftly and fiercely to not give his opponent a chance to establish any kind of rhythm. It was a stunning performance for Ajax Fidelty to cap off a 30-10 win for RED ROOSTER.

ENDEMIC (HOME) vs NASR X BANDIT (AWAY)

Away Team Player and Character Order: 1) MenaRD (Luke), 2) Big Bird (Luke), 3) Punk (Ken), SUB) Kami

ENDEMIC and NASR X BANDITS were up next this week with both coming off very close Team Battles in week one which were decided by tie-breaker. ENDEMIC put Shine with his Cody up against MenaRD’s Luke in the first match and as is quicly becoming a trend for season 5 it was an incredibly close match that went to the very last round. Both Luke and Cody have the ability to do big damage combos and there was a lot of ebb and flow as momentum seemed to shift constantly between the two players. The final round decided the match but it was a very strong one for MenaRD as he went on to get his team the first win of the Team Battle 2-1.

NuckleDu got his first match of the season next with his Guile facing Big Bird’s Luke. NuckleDu has been away from competition recently so we were excited to see him back in action here. Unfortunately this was a mostly one-sided match with Big Bird’s Luke in control for most of it, getting big jump-ins and using his Sand Blaster to offset Guile’s Sonic Boom pressure. NuckleDu had a few rounds where he seemed to pick up momentum but he just could not keep it going. Big Bird won comfortably 2-0 to give NASR X BANDITS a 20-0 lead.

Just like last week ENDEMIC went into match three down 20 points and iDom was there in the anchor position for the team once again. He sat down in the gaming chair and stretched without a hint of pressure. He went up againt AngryBird, one of he best closers in STREET FIGHTER LEAGUE. This was a tense match with a lot of back and forth with some incredibly quick rounds on both sides. iDom’s Laura was able to narrowly come out on top over AngryBird’s Zeku. Laura was able to get in close and put the opponent into a guessing game situation where the wrong move resulted in huge damage and likely the same position. AngryBird mostly used young Zeku with his faster normals, damaging throw and high movement speed but iDom closed it out winning 3-2 and tieing up the score 20-20.

It was time for a tie-breaker and surprisingly ENDEMIC elected to put in Shine with his Cody while MenaRD went in for NASR X BANDITS with Luke in a rematch from the first match. This was a very fast tie-breaker with MenaRD once again besting Shine but this time with a very fast 2 round win to give NASR X BANDITS their second Team Battle win of season 5.
