Welcome to the start of the regular season of the newly rebranded Street Fighter League EMEAA. Six teams will be competing over the course of five days, with each team playing twice per day; once as home team and once as the away team. The top three teams advance to the Finals and will earn part of a $100,000 prize pool, with first place taking home $60,000, second place $30,000 and third place $10,000.
This season also features a few changes to the format. If a team match needs an extra match, it will be a first to three instead of a single game. In addition, the extra match will be worth 10 points this season instead of the 5 from previous seasons.

MATCH 1: MVS (HOME) vs MOUZ (AWAY)
Away Team Player and Character Order: 1) DCQ (JP), 2) Problem X (Alex), 3) EndingWalker (Ryu), EXTRA) Lexx (Guile)
MVS got an impressive start to the season with a 30-10 victory over MOUZ in the first match of day one. NL with Luke took on DCQ’s JP in the first match. DCQ won a close first game, but NL took the next two, with NL winning 2-1. Mister Crimson’s Dhalsim stepped in against Problem X’s Alex next with Mister Crimson starting with a perfect first round. Problem X made some big reads to turn the tide, winning game 1. Mister Crimson answered with a narrow win in the second game and the set went to the final round of the final game. Problem X prevailed 2-1 to tie the score of the team match 10-10. In the anchor match it was Leshar’s Ed versus EndingWalker’s Ryu. In the first game both players were cautious with Leshar prevailing. Over the next two games EndingWalker got more aggressive but to no avail, with Leshar winning 3-0.

MATCH 2: FALCONS (HOME) vs YESPORTS (AWAY)
Away Team Player and Character Order: 1) Chris Wong (Luke), 2) Rainpro (Guile), 3) HotDog29 (Alex), EXTRA) Keekuma (Chun-Li)
FALCONS as the home team took on YESPORTS in the second match. The result was a strong 30-10 win for YESPORTS. VXBao’s Mai stepped in against Chris Wong’s Luke in the first match. Chris Wong looked confident, winning 2-1. FALCONS answered in the next match as Xiao Hai’s M.Bison completely stifled the offense of Rainpro’s Guile in a 2-0 victory. HotDog29’s Alex was up against Micky’s Mai in the anchor position. HotDog29 won a close first game and gained momentum to win the second as well. Micky surged to win the third game, but HotDog29 was able to take the final game to finish 3-1.

MATCH 3: RED DUNES (HOME) vs GTW (AWAY)

GTW got an early lead in their match against RED DUNES, but could not carry that momentum through to victory. In the first match Zhen’s Sagat was very aggressive from start to finish, keeping AngryBird’s Ryu on the back foot and winning 2-0. After the first match RED DUNES clawed their way back, winning the next two matches. Phenom’s Cammy won 2-1 against Xian’s Kimberly and Big Bird’s C.Viper beat Bravery’s Cammy 3-2 in the anchor match. Both matches were back-and-forth with lots of momentum shifts, but RED DUNES finished 30-10 over GTW.

MVS is off to a strong start after both of their team matches of day one. The first was a win over MOUZ and in their second team match they beat YESPORTS 30-10. YESPORTS struck first with Keekuma’s Chun-Li coming out on top over Kilzyou’s Mai after two close games. In the next match NL’s Luke beat HotDog 29’s Alex 2-0. The anchor match went the full five games with most of them being highly competitive. In the final game Leshar surged to win 3-2. MVS came away with 60 points at the close of day one.

MATCH 5: GTW (HOME) vs FALCONS (AWAY)

GTW and FALCONS both lost their initial team matches of day one and wanted to rebound here. Hope made his debut with his Modern A.K.I. against VXBao’s M.Bison and it was an impressive 2-0 victory. Xiao Hai’s M.Bison handed Bravery’s Cammy a one-sided defeat 2-0 in the next set to tie the score. Zhen’s Sagat came through for GTW in the anchor position over Micky’s Cammy and Mai 3-2. GTW walked away from this team match with a 30-10 win, leaving FALCONS with no wins on the first day.

NINJAS IN PYJAMAS was a dominant force in Street Fighter League, making it to back-to-back World Championships over the last two years. The team name has changed this season to RED DUNES, but the player roster remains unchanged. After beating GTW in its first team match, RED DUNES followed up with a dominant 40-0 victory over MOUZ. Phenom’s Cammy rebounded from a loss in the first game against EndingWalker’s Ryu to win the set 2-1. AngryBird’s Akuma followed that up by shutting down Problem X’s Alex in two quick games. Lexx stepped into the anchor match with Guile against Big Bird’s C.Viper. The momentum was with Big Bird for most of the set, leading for a 3-1 win.

TEAM STANDINGS AFTER DAY ONE
RED DUNES tops the standings after day one with their dual wins, with one being 40-0. MVS, also undefeated, follows them in second place. GTW and YESPORTS both earned one victory, while FALCONS and MOUZ will look for their first wins on day two.
